in plain sight, no one can see me
Alex suppressed a yawn, absently scraping his fork against his plate. Why did he ever let himself get talked into this? And on this night of all nights. He sighed and glanced up at his date. Anastasia was a gorgeous blonde with full red lips. Heavily attractive and curvaceous in the right places, Alex let his eyes fall back down. "Why do I get the distinct impression that you are bored?" she asked, obviously crossed with his demeanor. It wasn't her. Okay, it was her. Alex reached inside and pulled out a winning smile. She only continued to glower at him, which drove the point home. This date, like so many others, was not going well. "Alex, tell me something about yourself. You've barely said a word about you. What do you like to do?" Alex eyes turned up as if in thought.
"I... am a kind of... how to put this..." Alex mused to himself. How to put it in a way that Anastasia wouldn't look at him as if he was a buffoon.
"If you can't answer me properly, don't do it at all," she grumbled returning to her meal. The Joyeuse was a fabulous restaurant, and well within his pay but he was just so unsatisfied with the food. With the atmosphere. With everything. Ever since killing the Charmes brat, nothing had much taste or joy.
He sighed again, and started. "I'm a hitman. I kill people. Specifically with a sniper rifle in places that many people can't reach. It's... fun? No not the word... It's not boring. It keeps me going." Anastasia's eyes narrowed. She thought he was mocking her. "You wanted me to answer."
She huffed, and picked up her things. "Well, I see we are not right for each other." Alex smiled, waving. "Rude and disrespectful men will never find anything they want or need. Forgive me, I will be leaving first. Goodbye." And with that, she was gone. Alex sighed again. Nia was going to be angry with him again. That dating service cost money and he had turned down five, no six now, women. When would she learn that Alex was just not likable or lovable person. He was far too boring.
That was when a small group walked in looking around. Charmes minions. They were probably upset about the death of one of the family members. He had gotten the order for that one's head three or four hours ago. The man had been dead for about an hour now. They would be background checks on everyone they can find, asking for IDs. Alex did not really care. He did not recognize any of them, which meant they probably wouldn't recognize him.
"No one leaves until we get information on everyone here," one of the minions yelled out to the restaurant. It seemed Anastasia had slipped out at an appropriate time. Alex sat back and waited for the men to come to his table, readying his ID. He had nothing to hide. He never walked around with weapons unless he was on a job. He'd learned the less you had on you the less you attracted notice. He would just have to wait and see how this played out.
